Meet Yara Tinawi, DPM

Dr. Tinawi is a highly trained foot and ankle surgeon with a genuine passion for podiatric care — from routine nail concerns to complex surgical cases. She joined Brighton Foot & Ankle with a commitment to the same patient-first philosophy the practice was built on: take the time to listen, explain, and build a plan that actually works for your life. Her Approach

Dr. Tinawi believes that quality foot care has the power to meaningfully improve a patient’s daily life, and she brings that perspective to every appointment. She stays current on the latest advancements in podiatric medicine by regularly attending medical conferences and advanced surgical training courses. She is currently pursuing board certification in Foot Surgery, Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery, and Podiatric Medicine.

Education & Training

Dr. Tinawi earned her Bachelor of Arts and Science degree with honors in Biology from Wayne State University in Detroit. She went on to graduate at the top of her class from Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine in Ohio, earning her Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine in 2020.

She completed her surgical residency at Trinity Health in Livonia, Michigan, where she received extensive training in foot and ankle reconstruction and the diagnosis and management of a wide range of podiatric conditions. Her strong academic foundation paired with hands-on surgical experience makes her a well-rounded addition to the Brighton Foot & Ankle team.

Fun Facts About Dr. Tinawi

Dr. Tinawi was born and raised in Damascus, Syria, and moved to the United States in 2009. She is fluent in English and Arabic, and is currently learning Spanish — so if you speak Arabic, you’re in good hands. She has a passion for travel and has already visited over 10 countries, with plenty more on her list.


When she’s not in the office, you’ll find her reading, cooking, hiking, or hosting a competitive game night with friends and family. She also has a soft spot for a good movie — preferably with good food involved.
